PERSONAL HISTORY
I am a Maasai by tribe, born and raised in the Maasai land on the slopes of Mount Meru 4,500ft above sea level. I grew up in traditional Maasai life style, where I took care of the cattle, goats and sheep. At the same time I was attending primary school education. When I come back from school in the evening I have to take care of cows, goats and sheep and make sure all of them returned back home safely, before I ate supper. I was very happy to get these chances to go to school.

After primary school education, I joined secondary school for 4 years. There after I joined the Cooperative College where I studied commerce and bookkeeping and marketing. Later I joined Arusha Cooperative Union as a storekeeper. I worked in different departments and I was appointed credit controller of the company for a few years. I then decided to change my field. I attended Tourism College, where I passed my exams, and joined the tourism industry as a tour guide for safari’s and mountain climbing. I loved to watch Wildlife documentaries and that made me love leading trips to our National Parks and I have been doing these since 1997.

As a real Maasai who went through our strong culture and initiation. I now teach my clients about the fauna & flora of our country. Also I teach people about cultural dimension and history of African countries and Maasai culture.

SKILLS AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS
I am extensively trained in Wilderness medicine and have attended Wilderness First Responder courses including adult CPR and Air Way Management, field diagnosis, treatment and management of hypothermia, frostbite, acute mountain sickness and high altitude pulmonary Edema (HAPE). As well as emergency medical training I am also a trained guide attending tourism training courses conducted by the Tanzania Tourist Board (sponsored by the Irish Republic and Tanzanian government) and Greenfoot Print guide training school in West Kilimanjaro.

Filming projects are my specialty and working as a driver guide and field assistant I have considerable experience assisting film crew with productions including Taking the Flak- BBC series, Killer Ants- BBC documentary, Balance of Power- the interaction of lions and hyenas Grenadier Filming Company, Hadzabe Bushmen of Lake Eyasi and various other companies filming in the Serengeti and Ngorongoro.

I was among the first guides to explore a walking area in the Serengeti for African Environments. People had not been into the area for at least 50 years, now the area is reserved for select groups wishing for an exclusive walking experience away from vehicles and the usual tourist route. I now have many years experience as a photographic and walking safaris guide. I also have the fire arm training (conducted by the Police Force Training Unit in Arusha) necessary to protect clients from potential animal threats while walking through wilderness areas.

I am particularly interested in community wealth fare and as such I am the Founder and the Director of Sotwa Wilson School which was the source of starting the Opportunity Education Foundation ( www.opportunityeducation.org) which now consists of more than 1000 schools worldwide. I also worked with Comic Relief, a registered charity, helping children living on the streets of Arusha and Moshi.
